New Blue Angels Pilot: Nathan Barton '02

Lt. Nathan Barton ’02, of Hummelstown, PA, will be a Blue Angels demonstration flyer for 2013, the Pensacola News Journal reports. He will be an F/A-18 Hornet jockey. He is currently assigned to the Electronic Attack Squadron 129 at the Naval Air Station in Whidbey, WA.

Barton was co-captain of the men’s basketball team at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy for three seasons, 1999-2002. He was named 2002 Skyline Conference Player of the Year and was also a First-Team ECAC and a Third-Team All-Region point guard.

Barton was a four-year letterwinner from 1999-2002. He was also named team MVP during the 2001-2002 season.

Barton will be starting alongside new pilot Lt. Ryan Chamberlain, 27, of Bloomington, IL, who is currently assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron 14 at the Naval Air Station in Lemoore, CA. Both men were named new flyers as the flight team continues to rotate pilots after two or three years.
