The USMMA Alumni Association and Foundation conducts two 5K (3.1 mile) runs annually.  The opening race of the season is held the first Saturday following Summer Break (usually the last Saturday in July) for all midshipmen, alumni, and Academy faculty and staff.  It is a sponsored event and all alumni are welcome to participate free of charge. There is Regimental Company and Academy Department competition. The gun goes off at 0800.

The second race occurs on the Saturday morning of Homecoming, stepping off at 0815. There is reunion class competition (a minimum of three class members is needed to score) and a small registration fee to cover the cost of the timing equipment and medals.

Both races start on Steppingstone Lane opposite Lower Roosevelt Field, loop a scenic Kings Point village and finish on the Tomb Field track at the 50-yard line.
