USMMA “FATHOM THAT ART” Collection
Susan M. Pawlukiewicz, Kings Point '83 – a native of Seymour , CT and now a resident of Alexandria , VA is an artist who has done several paintings of Kings Point utilizing mediums of pastels, gouache, acrylic and watercolor paints. The paintings are of the Kings Pointer school ship, honor guard marching in parade dress, the WWII war memorial, chapel, Aphrodite and other important landmarks and events that honor our alma mater. The images are painted on top of a nautical chart of the USMMA area (showing Long Island Sound, Stepping Stone Lighthouse, Great Neck Bay, Manhattan , etc.) The chart's soundings, buoys, landmarks, etc. serve as a unique background to the painting. This makes a very interesting and personal piece of art for Kings Point graduates to own and put on a wall (or bulkhead) in their home, office, (or boat)!
The images of Kings Point with a nautical chart as the background make a great memorabilia for graduates and families to purchase as great Christmas gifts for family, friends, co-workers, and fellow classmates. For Susan, art has become a visual language through which she speaks. By expanding her creativity and artistic skills that she learned many years ago from her dad in carving and painting, she has developed a way to portray the positive Kings Point experience through design and color on a nautical chart. Susan's hope is to touch the hearts of other Kings Pointers and their families with the beauty of the USMMA and the remembrance of our years at the academy and the follow-on opportunities and adventures it has brought all of us. Beautiful color prints (matted and framed) are available of the paintings at 25 - 50% below her art gallery prices. In the future, if there are other special landmarks on the KP campus that you would like, please let Susan know and she would be glad to paint those as well. A portion of the profits of all sales goes to Kings Point.
